Happy Friday everyone! Temperatures plummeted back into the low to mid-40’s today following the passage of a very strong cold front last night through early this morning. It has also brought us overcast conditions and light rain showers across the region. As we head into this evening, we are anticipating a better chance for precipitation that will cover a larger portion of the South Plains and bring the potential for measurable rainfall for the first time in 100 days. Most folks will see temperatures above the freezing mark so there is only a small chance for wintry precipitation with this system. Rain will continue through early tomorrow morning (until about 7:00AM) and then we will see a slow decrease in clouds and a quick warmup in temperatures. Saturday highs will rebound back into the upper 60’s and we will move back into the low to mid-70’s by Sunday! We will stay warm on Monday but another cool down is headed our way mid-week so make sure to keep your jackets handy!
