Happy Thursday everyone! It has been yet another sunny and hot day across the South Plains with high temperatures sitting back into the triple digits. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Northern and Central South Plains until 9PM this evening and for the Southern South Plains until 7PM Friday evening. This means that temperatures will reach as high as 105-110 degrees. Therefore, it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours! Make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day. Also, try to avoid strenuous activities during peak temperature times to avoid heat-related illnesses. The triple digit heat will stick around through Monday and then thankfully on Monday night our next cold front will push into the region. This front will drop our temperatures back to average on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week and it will bring us our next chance for some showers and thunderstorms Monday night through much of Tuesday.
