Happy Thursday everyone! It has been another sunny and hot start to the day and as we head into the evening hours, we will be on the look out for some pop up showers and thunderstorms that could be strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Northern South Plains under the Marginal Risk Category with the biggest threats being strong wind gusts and moderate to large hail so make sure to stay weather aware! These storms will linger into Friday morning so if you are out and about early, make sure to keep an umbrella handy. By the afternoon hours on Friday, temperatures will move back into the triple digits and we are expecting abundant sunshine. Our last chance for storms will arrive Friday night into early Saturday morning, but will be isolated. The weekend will remain hot and sunny with a mild cool down for the middle of next week. Remember to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day.
