Happy Friday everyone! It has been another sunny and hot day with highs back in the triple digits. As we head into the evening hours, we will be on the look out for some pop up showers and thunderstorms that could be strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Northern South Plains under the Marginal Risk Category with the biggest threats being strong wind gusts and moderate to large hail so make sure to stay weather aware! These storms will clear out early Saturday morning with sunshine taking over throughout much of the weekend. We will watch for another chance for storms late Saturday night into Sunday but they will be very isolated. Temperatures will remain in the upper 90’s and triple digits through the middle of next week so don’t forget to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day.
