Happy Sunday everyone! It has been another sunny and hot day with highs back in the triple digits. With the dry line set up along the Texas/New Mexico border and the front sitting over the Northern Panhandle, we are watching for the chance of strong to severe storms this evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Northern South Plains under the Slight Risk Category with the biggest threats will be large hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado threat so make sure to stay weather aware! The storms will clear out early Monday morning, but we will watch for another round to arrive Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Thankfully, with the increased storm chances comes a big drop in our temperatures. Highs on Monday will stay right at average in the low 90’s with an increase into the upper 90’s for the remainder of the work week. It is still important to remember to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day. Sunshine will be abundant throughout the week with increased storm chances returning this upcoming weekend.
