Happy Thursday everyone! It has been yet another beautiful day across the South Plains with highs back in the upper 90’s and the triple digits! However, temperatures will begin a downward climb over the next few days, dropping back into the mid-90’s. Another noticeable change will be the increased chance for storms beginning tomorrow evening and continuing through Monday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the Northwestern South Plains under the Marginal Risk category for strong to severe storms Friday night. Biggest threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts so make sure to stay weather aware. Thankfully though, we will see storms clear out by Monday afternoon, leaving us will clear and sunny conditions for the Fourth of July holiday next week! However, that also means that temperatures will be heating back up again. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours! Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day.
