Happy Thursday everyone! It has been a hot and sunny day across the South Plains with temperatures moving back into the triple digits this afternoon. Thankfully, a dry cold front will push across the region late tonight through early tomorrow morning bringing a brief cool down. Temperatures will drop into the low 90’s on Friday and Saturday with abundant sunshine on Friday. However, the cold front the will push across the region tonight will stall out to our South, allowing moisture to re-enter the region beginning Friday night. This will allow for the development of thunderstorms Friday night through Monday. We are still watching for a brief chance of storms on the evening of the 4th of July so stay tuned for updates. Also remember to make sure to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours over the next few days and keep an umbrella handy over the weekend.
