Happy Thursday everyone! It has been another sunny and hot day across the South Plains with highs in the upper 90’s and the triple digits. With the dry line draped across the region, we are expecting another chance for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon through early tomorrow morning and again Friday afternoon through early Saturday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has placed us under the Marginal Risk Category today and Friday for strong to severe storms with large hail and damaging wind gusts as our biggest threats so make sure to stay weather aware. Thankfully, with the increasing storm chances comes decreasing temperatures over the next week. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 90’s which is a nice change from the triple digit heat we have been seeing over the past few weeks. Despite the cool down, it is still important to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated throughout the day.
