We’re looking at clear skies, with passing clouds to the south, to kick off this week. Under the clouds, temperatures are in the mid 30s and mid 40s. Where it’s clear, it’s much colder, with readings in the mid 20s-mid 30s. So, the clouds are making a big difference this morning, trapping that air at the surface and keeping it warmer. The afternoon is going to see another warm day, with sunny skies and dry air. Lubbock can expect a high temperature of 70°.

We’ll get our first of three cold fronts this afternoon and evening. It will drop temperatures back down into the upper 20s by tomorrow morning. These fronts will not be strong and will not bring us any welcome rain, which is normal in a La Nina year. The wind will drop to 5-10 mph by tomorrow afternoon, with a high of 60° in Lubbock. The average high for this time of year is actually 57°.
