The clouds are already clearing off to the east as we get going on this Tuesday morning. We’re going to receive plenty of sunshine and warm air today. Expect the high in Lubbock to reach 75°, with wind from the west-southwest at 10-15 mph. The big changes will arrive this evening with a strong cold front. That cold front will begin to drop temperatures down into the 40s for the northern counties by 6:00 pm.
Lubbock will feel the effects from the cold front by 8:00 pm. We’ll see the temperature plummet down to 27° tomorrow morning. There will be moisture and precipitation in the area Wednesday. This will fall in the form of mainly light sleet. Although, I can’t rule out a light freezing rain mix, especially off the Caprock. There will be very little, or no accumulation. With the clouds skies, Lubbock will only reach a high of 31°. The wind will be at 10-20 mph, making it feel more like the teens. Be careful driving in the Rolling Plains tomorrow.
