The clouds have returned and it is very cold outside. We’re currently seeing wind at 30 mph, with gusts to 35 mph in Lubbock. The wind will eventually drop to 10-15 mph this afternoon. There are two areas of sleet beginning to move into the region. This will last mainly this morning for central and southern counties. The Rolling Plains will see sleet this morning, with another round of some sleet this afternoon. The high temperature will only reach 29°.
Overnight, we’ll just see cloudy skies. Any precipitation will be out of the Rolling Plains this afternoon, generally by 6:00 pm. The clouds will help to hold temperatures in the 20s, as Lubbock will start Thursday off at 24°. There will be a mix of clouds and sunshine tomorrow, with wind dropping to 5-10 mph. The wind flow will shift to the south, so we’ll be able to get to 50° here in Lubbock. But that is still 11 degrees below the average high.
