We had clouds increasing very rapidly on Monday afternoon behind the cold front. Temperatures fell very quickly and the cold air is here to stay for a few days. Right now, the clouds are slowly breaking up and exiting the region. Those clouds will give way to sunny skies today. But, don’t be fooled. The air is going to remain very cold. In fact, we will not make it above freezing today, even with the sunshine. Lubbock will see a high temperature of only 31°. At least the wind is going to stay light, at 5-10 mph.

Overnight, skies will stay clear and the wind light. That means we are setting up to see a very cold morning. Low temperatures will be lower then what we’re seeing out there this morning. Lubbock will drop down to 13°. Much like today, wind chill values will be down into the single digits and negative numbers to the north and northwest. Wednesday afternoon will stay sunny. The wind is going to increase from the south-southwest at 10-15 mph. We’ll see slightly warmer air, as Lubbock hits a high of 43°.
