A few, small, showers managed to crack the edge of the high pressure dome and make it to the ground in Parmer and Bailey Counties. Heavier rain fell in the panhandle, near Amarillo and Hereford. Another high pressure dome will get its act together today. That means we will expect to see more sunny skies, few clouds and dry air. Lubbock is going to make it up to a high temperature of 97°. I can’t rule out near 100° heat in the Rolling Plains.
The ridge of high pressure will stay strong on Friday. We’re only going to start the day at 74°. Expect pretty typical conditions for high pressure. That means we’ll get sunny skies, light wind and very warm, summer air again. There won’t be too much change from today, because Lubbock will make it up to 96°. The Rolling Plains can expect to see highs from 99°-100° Friday afternoon.
