It is now officially summer! The summer solstice was at 5:07 this morning. We will certainly be feeling like summer today. High pressure will start to return to west Texas, so that means more sunshine and very warm air. There will be some thunderstorms this evening in northeastern New Mexico. Some of those will cross into the panhandle, but our area is expected to remain dry. Lubbock will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 95°.
The high will really be in effect on Friday, with our wind flow out of the west. That flow will continue to keep things hot and dry. The morning will see mainly clear skies, with a low temperature of 71°. Be safe if you will spend time outdoors Friday afternoon, because we will see clear blue skies and hot conditions. Lubbock is going to get to a high of 100°. Wind is going to increase to 10-20 mph.
