We’re looking at much more calm weather to start this day then we did 24 hours ago. Those showers and thunderstorms are staying away from the South Plains for this Tuesday morning. We’re going to try to get back to a typical summer set-up, starting this afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny and expect warmer air, with a high of 92° in Lubbock. That is actually right on the average high for June 27.

Overnight, we’ll just see passing clouds through west Texas. Things will be calm, but warm. Lows will only drop to the low 70s for most of the area. Lubbock will start at 70°. The wind will begin to increase tomorrow, sustained at 10-15 mph in the afternoon. The highs will also begin to climb up above average once more. Lubbock is going to make it up to 96° for the high. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some spots in the Rolling Plains reach 99°, or 100° tomorrow afternoon.
