As expected, there were thunderstorms last night on the high terrain of New Mexico and as expected these storms fizzled before they could cross the state line into our area. We’re seeing the clouds from those storms dissipate this morning. The afternoon is looking to be another mostly sunny one, with wind at 10-15 mph. The air will be dry, with a high of 96° in Lubbock. The Rolling Plains could see one, or two spots hit 100° this afternoon.

Overnight, skies will remain clear. The weather will be relatively calm, with any thunderstorms staying away from the South Plains. We’ll drop down to 70° just before sunrise tomorrow, so it’s going to be another warm start to the day. The afternoon is going to see a cloudless skies. Under this west-to-east flow, we’ll have hot and dry air. Lubbock will hot 102° for the high temperature. Nearly all locations will see highs above 100° tomorrow. It’ll be the tenth time this year Lubbock has seen triple digit heat.
