Yesterday was day number 18 of seeing highs reaching 100° or higher. Lubbock got to 101° on Thursday afternoon. We’re still going to see warm air today, but highs will be in two digits. This evening and tonight, there are going to be isolated storms along the state line and into the Permian Basin. These storms will weaken as they move to the northeast. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny, with a high of 97°.

There will be more isolated storms overnight, through Saturday morning. Coverage is going to be 20%. The low temperature will drop to 74°. Saturday will see more clouds than sunshine, thanks to monsoonal moisture from the southwest. We’ll also get another round of isolated storms in the area at 20%. Some storms will have gusty wind and heavy rain. The high temperature Saturday will reach 94°.
