There are showers and thunderstorms moving through the Oklahoma panhandle this morning and we are getting the clouds from those storms moving through the area this morning. That is all that we will see. The big story for this afternoon will be the warm air and wind. Those two things will cause the fire danger to be high again. We’re going to have mostly sunny skies, with wind at 15-25 mph. Lubbock will see a high temperature of 97°.
Overnight, expect some passing clouds to return to the region. These clouds will help to hold low temperatures into the mid 60s again. We will begin the day with a low of only 65° here in Lubbock. The afternoon is going to see mostly sunny skies, with hot weather making an appearance for the first time this year. Lubbock is going to reach a high of 100° Friday afternoon. Areas to the east will see highs between 100°-102°. Wind will be at 15-20 mph.
