We’re not getting any clouds in the area this morning, so skies are staying clear. This afternoon will see just some passing clouds, much like what we had on Thursday. The hot weather will hang around today, as well. Lubbock got to 100° for the first time this year yesterday, breaking the record high of 99°. We’ll hit 100° again today, on the 48th anniversary of the 1970 F5 tornado that went through downtown Lubbock. Wind today will be at 15-20 mph.

We’ll see another night with clear skies and wind at 10-15 mph. The low temperature by tomorrow morning will only get to 67°. Tomorrow afternoon will see sunny skies, with a few storms in the area. Those storms will generally stay just east of Lubbock in the evening hours. Gusty wind and lightning are the main issues, so fires could start. Coverage is 20%. The high on Saturday is going to reach 99°.
