It was nice to see those showers and thunderstorms bring welcome rain to the area yesterday. I know Lubbock really missed out on seeing any rain, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. This afternoon is looking to be mostly sunny and very warm. Lubbock will reach a high of 92°. There will be isolated storms at 20%, anywhere north of Plainview, to Friona and Turkey. Any storm will have large hail and damaging wind possible. Those storms will move northeast into the panhandle.
Tomorrow will be very similar to today. Skies will stay mostly sunny. Lubbock will make it to 88° for the high. Wind is looking to stay at 15-20 mph. A dry line will move east of Lubbock and set up east of Floydada in the afternoon. Severe storms are possible in the eastern Rolling Plains, mainly Turkey, to Roaring Springs, to Jayton and Snyder, then east. We’ll see large hail, damaging wind and isolated tornadoes possible. Coverage is still looking to be 20%.
