The dry line is going to stay to the west of Lubbock today, setting up along the state line. So, there will be ample amounts of moisture coming into west Texas from the southeast. That moisture, with the warm air and lift in the atmosphere will give us scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Those storms will produce some large hail and damaging wind, so there is a severe threat again today. The storms will be in the area from 3:00-9:00 pm. Otherwise, skies will be mostly sunny with a high of 94°.
Overnight, we will expect to see leftover storms trying to hang on, especially in the Rolling Plains. Coverage is 10%. We’ll see partly cloudy skies, with a low of 65°. Tomorrow afternoon will see dry air making a brief return. The wind will be out of south, so we’ll still see warm air and 10-20 mph wind. The high temperature will get to 95° in Lubbock. So, if you want to get outside, there will be no threat of storms Friday.
