We are watching as the clouds are clearing the area and moving to the east this morning. The low pressure system that brought the much needed rain to portions of the area yesterday is moving away from us. So, sunshine, dry and warm air will build in behind this system. This afternoon will see sunny skies, with wind at 10-15 mph. We’ll see highs closer to the average today, as Lubbock will reach 85°. It will be a good day to get outside and enjoy the nice weather.

Summer time weather will be kicking in tomorrow. The skies will remain sunny and the air very dry. Under this high pressure expect highs to jump way up to 99° in Lubbock. There will be a few locations in the Rolling Plains that make it to 100°, or higher! So, be sure to stay safe out in that heat tomorrow. Apply and reapply the sunscreen and stay hydrated. This will be the first hot day in quite some time.
