We are still seeing clear skies all over the South and Rolling Plains this morning. The high pressure that has been bringing in the warm air is going to begin to exit later on today. But, before it does, expect warmer air and more sunshine this afternoon. Lubbock is going to see sunny skies, 10-15 mph wind from the southwest and a high temperature of 84°. That southwest wind is the reason why we’re looking at warmer air today.

A trough of low pressure is going to move over west Texas tomorrow from Arizona. This will keep the wind at 10-15 mph, but it will bring in cooler and drier air. We’ll actually begin the day at 54°. That is above where we should be. By the afternoon, with mostly sunny skies, Lubbock will hit a high of only 75°. That is actually right on the average high for October 19. That wind will make it feel more like the upper 60s.
