We’re going to watch as that upper-level high pressure ridge moves right over top of the South and Rolling Plains this afternoon. Be ready for more sunshine, light wind and very warm conditions. In fact, high temperatures will reach the triple digits off the Caprock today. Highs there will range from 100°-102°. Have the air conditioning ready to go! Lubbock is going to see sunny skies and very warm air as we reach a high of 97°.
The forecast has changed a bit as we move into Friday. It’s now looking like we’ll begin to get southwest flow. Normally that will bring in dry air. However, there is a low pressure system along the west coast of Mexico. This is going to pull in moisture to west Texas. Expect increasing clouds tomorrow. That will help to keep highs down from what we thought yesterday. There will also be isolated storms in the southern counties at 10%. Lubbock will make it up to a high temperature of 92°.
