We’re looking at split conditions, in terms of temperatures, so far on this Thursday. Warmer air is trapped from Lubbock and east, with most locations in the 70s. We’re in the 60s west of Lubbock. This afternoon, we can expect more sunshine and another warm one out there for the final, full day of summer. Lubbock is going to remain well above average, as we make it to a high temperature of 96°. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some portions of the Rolling Plains hit 100°.
The Autumnal Equinox is tomorrow at 3:02 pm. We will not be feeling like Autumn just yet. However, cooler air is on the way. You’ll notice mostly sunny skies on Friday, with increasing clouds after 5:00 pm. That is ahead of a pacific system that will bring in clouds, cooler air and rain this weekend. Storms will stay in eastern New Mexico tomorrow. Lubbock will hit a high temperature of 90°.
