LUBBOCK, Texas — Scattered showers and storms will continue tonight especially off to the east and into the Rolling Plains. Some of these storms could be strong to severe as the Storm Prediction Center has put parts of the South Plains and Rolling Plains under a slight risk for severe weather. In addition to the slight risk, these same areas are also under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 PM this evening. This means that strong to severe storms are possible with large hail, damaging winds, localized flooding, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Much of the showers and storms look to be out of the area overnight tonight leaving us with dry conditions tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow will be another warm day with high temperatures into the mid 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. During the afternoon there is a slight chance for an isolated shower or two. The SPC has put parts of the eastern South Plains in a marginal risk for severe weather. While areas to the east of I-27 will have a few isolated showers, most of us look to remain dry. If you’re heading out to the Burkhart Autism Walk tomorrow afternoon be sure to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. It’ll be a hot one tomorrow so you’ll want to make sure you drink plenty of water.
Next week will feature isolated to scattered showers with the possibility of some of these showers and storms being strong to severe. After tonight and tomorrow, our attention will turn to Monday as all of the South Plains is in a marginal risk for severe weather with areas to the south and east of Lubbock is a slight risk.
