Today will feature a great deal of sunshine across the region. Along with the sunny conditions, temperatures will soar into the 80s by the afternoon hours. It’ll be another great day to do lunch and dinner outside. We’ll keep the clear conditions tonight with temperatures slowly dropping into the upper 40s to lower 50s across the South Plains.

We’ll get an increase in moisture tomorrow with clouds on the increase throughout the day. An isolated shower during the evening hours is possible with showers and storms becoming more scattered in nature during the late evening and overnight hours. More showers and storms look to continue throughout the early morning hours on Saturday before moving out of the region leaving behind some clouds. Some of these storms overnight could be strong to severe. Areas to the east of Lubbock are in a marginal risk for severe weather tomorrow night. Hail, gusty winds, and localized flooding are all possible.

Once this system pushes out by the late hours on Saturday we’ll be left with partly cloudy conditions and pleasant conditions. Saturday night is the Final Four and if you’re thinking about heading out to a restaurant or doing some grilling it’ll be absolutely perfect. Temperatures by Tech tip-off will be in the mid 70s with dry conditions.

The latter half of the weekend looks cooler with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. By the beginning of the week next week temperatures are already back into the mid 70s and 80s, and we’ll be watching for the potential for temperatures to rise near 90 by next week.
