KLBK April 5th Morning Forecast

Happy Friday! We’re off to another mild start today with temperatures in the 50s across the region. By the afternoon hours, temperatures will warm up into the mid 70s with abundant sunshine for the first half of the day. Clouds will be on the increase later today giving us a mix of sun and clouds. As we head on throughout the day today you’ll feel an increase in humidity. Moisture from the Gulf will be pulled into West Texas ahead of an upper-level trough. This moisture and warm air could help to create few pop up showers this evening, however, this will not be the main rain event.

This upper-level disturbance will dig through the region overnight tonight bringing some dry air along with it. Couple that dry air with the moisture that we’ll have later on today and that will help to spark strong to severe storms overnight tonight. Most of the storms look to develop around midnight tonight. Much of the South Plains, including Lubbock, are in a ‘slight’ risk for severe weather tonight. The biggest threat that comes along with these storms will be large hail. Of course damaging winds, localized flooding, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out either.

Storms look to move out of the area by Saturday morning leaving behind a lingering shower and partly cloudy conditions. Fortunately, if you plan on being outside on a patio for the Final Four, you’re in luck. We are not expecting any showers or storms to disrupt your Final Four viewing Saturday evening.

The rest of the weekend looks great with temperatures in the 70s and partly cloudy conditions.
