We finally got some much needed rain here in Lubbock, as well as most of the South Plains. A system brought some showers and storms overnight last night into this morning across much of the region, and the rain stuck with us today especially here in Lubbock. Rain totals across the area ranged anywhere from a quarter of an inch to an inch. Fortunately, we have more rain in store tonight as a complex system will push through the region overnight bringing the possibility of some severe weather to our norther counties. The northern half of Lubbock County and north are in a marginal risk for severe weather this evening and overnight tonight. Large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out with this marginal risk. Be sure to keep it on KLBK and follow us on Facebook and on Twitter for any updates tonight.
Once this complex system moves out of the region, it may leave a sprinkle or two in the morning, but otherwise most of the rain will be out of the area by the morning. The rain chances continue into tomorrow as a weak cold front pushes through our region during the late afternoon and evening hours brining the chance for rain once again. This cold front will also bring cooler temperatures as well, but we will most likely not see these cooler temperatures until late Sunday or on Monday. Temperatures to start off the workweek will be into the 80s, but then by Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise back up again into the 90s.
Keep up with the KLBK Weather Team tonight for all of the latest updates.
