This morning starts out breezy and cold with temperatures in the low 43s but it’ll feel more like the 30s with the wind chill. A few isolated showers are possible this morning as the low pressure system that brought us rain yesterday moves off to the east. A few wrap around showers are possible this morning but are expected to dissipate by the afternoon hours. Clouds will stick around this afternoon, but the bigger story will be the drastic change in temperatures this afternoon. High temperatures today will struggle to reach the 50 this afternoon. Temperatures will be on the descent over the next couple of days as colder air funnels into the South Plains. High temperatures tomorrow will drop into the mid 30s. Tomorrow stays dry during the day but changes are on the way starting tomorrow night as snow makes a return to the forecast.
Some snow begins to appear back into the region late Friday night before becoming more widespread overnight and into the morning hours on Saturday. Accumulations in the Hub City are expected to be light and less than an inch. Areas to the north and west are expected to have higher accumulations between 2-4″. The Rolling Plains looks to miss out on the snow, with Lubbock being the dividing line between snow and dry conditions.
This system will clear out on Saturday evening leaving behind frigid conditions with temperatures in the teens and twenties. After this snow event we look to stay dry the rest of the weekend and into next week.
Have a great day!
