We began the day with thin clouds rolling in from the north. The primary wind direction is from the north, so by the afternoon, the wind helped to push those clouds out of the area. The sun has been shining this afternoon, helping to bring in warmer air, with temperatures in the mid 50s in the region. Overnight, there will be clear skies and light wind, so expect a cold morning. The low in Lubbock will reach 30°.

Saturday is going to be a good day to get outside. There will be sunny skies and dry air. The dry air is the problem, because of the need for rain. The conditions have been so dry since mid-October and the dry air will be a repeat factor in the forecast. We’ll see wind at 10-15 mph tomorrow, with warmer air. Lubbock will make it up to a high of 62°.
