KLBK February 10th Evening Forecast

Tonight will remain overcast with a some sprinkles possible. Tomorrow we’ll wake up to cloudy conditions, temperatures in the 40s and a slight breeze. By the afternoon hours, a cold front will pass through West Texas increasing our winds. Winds tomorrow will be out of the west sustained at 25-35 mph and gusting up to 50 mph. Relative humidity will be dry tomorrow and when you couple that with windy conditions the threat for fire weather increases. Much of the central South Plains is in a CRITICAL risk for fire weather tomorrow, with the rest of West Texas in a elevated risk. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 12 PM until 7 PM tomorrow. Areas to the east of Lubbock and off of the Caprock is in a Fire Weather Watch for the same time period. Burning is HIGHLY discouraged tomorrow as any small spark could set off a wildfire.

Winds will calm down by the evening hours leaving us with breezy conditions. By midweek, temperatures will be back up into the mid 60s and we have the chance to reach the upper 70s by Thursday. Unfortunately, the spring-like weather won’t last for long as another cold front arriving on Friday will drop our high temperatures back into the 50s.
