Winds from this afternoon will become somewhat calm overnight tonight. Winds will be out of the northwest at 15-20 mph with lows dropping in the upper 20s overnight. Tomorrow will be a different story than today. High temperatures tomorrow will reach the mid to upper 50s across the region, and winds will be calm out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.
The bigger story comes over the next couple of days. While we haven’t seen much wintry weather this winter, we have the possibility to see that once again on Tuesday. This system looks to begin during the morning hours on Tuesday that could make for a slick morning commute. As of now, it looks to continue during the afternoon on Tuesday before moving out by the evening hours. With high temperatures on Tuesday only reaching the mid 30s, it’s likely that whatever falls to the ground may stick to the ground. Snow accumulations look to be light with about a trace to and inch possible in Lubbock.
Once this system clears out we’ll slowly warm up throughout the rest of the week. Wednesday will be dry with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s, but by Thursday another disturbance looks to bring some more rain into the forecast. Scattered rain showers are possible on Thursday lasting on and off throughout the day continuing into Friday and part of the morning on Saturday. This is still a few days out so it could change, but there is the possibility to see more rain in the forecast which will be great for our current drought conditions.
