LUBBOCK, Texas – Yesterday Lubbock reached a high of 105° and unfortunately, today is going to be a repeat of yesterday. While we didn’t beat yesterday’s previous record of 108°, we have the chance today to tie, and possibly even beat the record of 105° set back in 1936. Temperatures today off of the Caprock will be much hotter reaching about 110°. Due to the continued heat, there is still a heat advisory in effect for all of the South Plains until 9 PM this evening. You want to make sure that you’re staying hydrated throughout the day today and try to spend minimal time outdoors. Also make sure that you’re walking your dogs during the early morning hours or the evening hours.
Unfortunately, this heat looks to stick around for some time. Triple-digits continue throughout the weekend but temperatures by the beginning of next week look to be somewhat cooler. Along with the cooler temperatures, there is also the potential for rain next week. Stick with the KLBK Weather Team for all of the latest updates!
Have a great weekend!
