Today was yet another day with temperatures in the triple digits. Today is the fourth day of triple-digit heat and the 23rd day of 2018 with temperatures in the triple-digits. If you’re hoping for a break in the heat to finish out the weekend, unfortunately you’re not going to get it. Temperatures tomorrow will once again reach into the triple-digits. Lubbock will tie, and possibly even break the previous record of 104° set in 2003. After tomorrow, things will slowly change as we’re tracking a break in the heat. A weak cold front will pass through the South Plains on Monday allowing for temperatures to drop and the chances for rain to increase. Monday’s high will only reach the mid 90s, which is still better than triple-digit heat, but Tuesday’s highs look even better. The high on Tuesday looks to only be into the low 90s here in Lubbock with some other areas across the South Plains getting into the upper 80s. There is a chance for rain Monday and Tuesday, with both days being at a 10% chance of isolated storms.

After Tuesday, we look to dry out and very slowly increase in temperatures. Clouds will stick around for the rest of the week allowing for temperatures to remain cooler than what we’ve been seeing recently.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay cool!
