Today was a fantastic day outside with temperatures only getting up into the 80s for much of the South Plains which was a nice break from the upper 90s and triple-digit heat that we had yesterday for the Fourth of July. Although it was cooler today than yesterday, it did feel a bit muggy outside as well with dew points reaching the low to mid 60s. All of this moisture is thanks to a disturbance originating from the tropics, now over Mexico, that has pulled some tropical moisture into the South Plains. The good thing about this is that it is giving us more clouds across the area which is helping to relieve the heat allowing temperatures to get cooler.
These cooler temperatures look to stay throughout the end of the week into the weekend, however, with this comes the chance for showers and storms throughout the day on Friday and into the weekend. There is the potential for showers during the morning hours that may impact your morning commute. So you want to make sure to pack the umbrella for tomorrow, but don’t leave it at work because we are watching for the potential for more rain Friday afternoon and evening as well. The rain doesn’t end there as we are expecting more rain on Saturday and Sunday both in the morning and afternoon hours. So if you have any outdoor activities planned for the weekend, I would have a back up plain just in case. Fortunately, temperatures over the week are expected to remain in the upper 80s and lower 90s, so if you want to spend anytime outdoors during breaks in the rain, it’ll be a nice one to do so.
Unfortunately, we do have the chance for somewhat hotter temperatures in the forecast for next week, but there is also the chance for more rain in the forecast as well. Stick with the KLBK Weather Team for all of the latest updates.
