While we saw some showers across the South Plains yesterday, there were more scattered showers across the area today. These pop up storms formed very quickly across the area once the overcast skies from this morning broke and sun started to peak out. These showers are expected to continue throughout the evening, however, most of the showers will dissipate once the sun sets. Temperatures across the area today were well below average, with the temperature in Lubbock getting to the upper 80s. Fortunately, if you like cooler than average temperatures and rain, you’re in luck. There are more chances for rain throughout the next couple of days. Many of these showers and storms will be isolated to scattered and are not expected to be severe. Temperatures for the next couple of days will also be cooler than average as winds from the east are helping keep clouds around, which is helping to keep our temperatures much cooler than they would be this time of year. Unfortunately, drier conditions and above normal temperatures look to make a return to the South Plains by the middle of next week.
