Today was a pleasant Father’s Day in terms of weather. The rain held off for much of the afternoon and high temperatures topped out at the low 80s. The overcast sky kept us cool today which was a nice change from the scorching heat we’ve had since May. A few scattered showers were present today especially to the east of Lubbock. These showers will continue tonight but will die down as we head into the overnight hours and will be gone by the time you wake up for work tomorrow. Temperatures tomorrow will be back into the upper 80s tomorrow with a 10% chance of an isolated shower/storm during the evening hours. Tomorrow’s storms are not expected to be severe but they could produce some brief, heavy downpours and even some gusty winds. Even though we are having much needed rain across the South Plains, temperatures will begin to rise over the next several days as high pressure builds in. This high pressure will diminish our rain chances for the end of the week and high temperatures are expected to get back into the mid 90s. Enjoy the break in the heat while you can!
