It was truly a gorgeous weekend with abundant sunshine and temperatures in the 70s and even some 80s in the southern South Plains. We’ll keep the clear conditions tonight with temperatures falling into the upper 30s to lower 40s across the region. Tomorrow morning will be off to a mild, yet chilly start, but we’ll warm up very quickly with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Clouds will slowly increase on Tuesday which will help to keep our temperatures down slightly during the day. Windy conditions will also return on Tuesday and look to stick with us the rest of the week and into the weekend.
The windy conditions won’t be the main story over the next week. The range in high temperatures over the next several days will be somewhat of the main story, coupled with the potential for some precipitation. Most of this precipitation looks to be very isolated. Beginning Wednesday, clouds will be on the increase leading to mostly cloudy conditions, but the chance for an isolated shower is possible throughout the day on Wednesday and evening into Thursday. Thursday also looks to be the warmest day of the week with high temperatures in the 80s.
Unfortunately, this warmer weather won’t last for long. If you thought we were going to escape the 50s and 60s for the rest of the season you’re wrong. A strong cold front on Saturday will drop our high temperatures into the 60s and then on Sunday we’re looking at high temperatures back into the 50s.
