Tonight temperatures will fall into the 30s across the region. We’ll be under a mostly clear sky tonight and for the start of the day tomorrow. Clouds will be on the increase ahead of a small system that could bring us the chance for isolated rain showers tomorrow evening. However, the chances of rain will increase after tomorrow. By Monday, a low presure system bringing scattered rain showers across the region becoming more widespread late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The widespread rain will continue throughout the day on Tuesday, so be sure wear some rain boots and bring the rain jacket along. Rain will continue into overnight on Tuesday, but most of the rain showers looks to be gone by the morning hours on Wednesday with a possible lingering shower on Wednesday morning.

With this impending rain and the very dry conditions we’ve had over the past several months, flooding will be a concern over the next couple of days. Ponding on the roadways is likely, with larger flooding possible. If you come across a flooded roadway, turn around and avoid it. We’ll also be watching the potential for strong thunderstorms on Tuesday as Lubbock and areas south are in a marginal risk for severe weather.
