There will be more warm air across west Texas as we move into the day Thursday. The low temperature will only reach 58°, with the wind helping to keep things warm in the morning. The afternoon is looking to see more sunshine and very dry air. So, the fire danger continues through the day. We’ll continue with sunny skies and wind. The wind will be sustained at 20-25 mph, with a high reaching 93°. Fires will spread very fast.
By Friday morning, a cold front will be affecting the region, so temperatures will be dropping in the afternoon. The clear, blue skies and wind will remains. The wind is going to be at 25-30 mph, with gusts to 45 mph at times in the afternoon. So, we’ll see blowing dust and dirt, along with the high fire danger on Friday afternoon. The high will be lower, as we make it up to 74° here in Lubbock.
