Saturday is looking to be the warmest day so far in 2017. We’ll experience clear, blue skies all day long. That upper-level ridge of high pressure will be in full strength during the afternoon. The current record high for Lubbock on Saturday is 85°. Right now, with this ridge staying strong, we will reach a new record high of 88°! The air will remain very dry & the wind will stay at 10-20 mph, so keep in mind the high fire danger on Saturday.
There will be another huge change in the area by Sunday. A strong cold front is going to move in during the early morning hours. This will swing the wind around to the northeast at 15-25 mph, gusting to 40 mph. Clouds will increase & colder air will pour into the South & Rolling Plains. We’ll only see a high of 51°, which will feel more like the low & mid 40s. So, be ready to bundle up for a few days.
