We finally made it to the end of the week! Today will feature yet another warm day with highs getting into the mid to upper 80s for much of the South Plains. Like yesterday, the only form of relief we’ll get from the warmth is from the rain. Isolated storms are expected to develop later on this afternoon and evening. Much of the South Plains is in a marginal risk for severe weather today. The main threats include damaging winds, hail, torrential rainfall, and localized flooding. Be sure to keep up with KLBK on Facebook and on Twitter for the latest updates and warnings. Isolated storms continue into the nighttime, but most of the activity will diminish overnight.

Things will change big time in terms of a Fall-like feel come tomorrow. A cold front that will push into the region early Saturday morning will drop temperatures into the 70s. There’s still a large distribution between models for tomorrow’s high temperatures. Depending on the timing of this front and how long it stalls, high temperatures could even drop into the 60s and possibly 50s. This front will also bring widespread rain into the area for a couple of days at it just lingers in the South Plains. Showers and storms this weekend look to be strong to severe as we are still in the marginal risk category. If you have any outdoor plans this weekend be sure to have a back up.

Once this front advances by the beginning of next week, things will start to warm up and slowly dry out. We’ll remain seasonable Monday and Tuesday with rain chances around 20%. By midweek next week things dry out and temperatures get back into the 80s.

Have a great weekend!
