Record Warmth Saturday: Lubbock set a new record high Saturday afternoon of 88° at the airport. The old record high for today was 86° from 1916. Keep in mind the normal high temperature for November 4 is 69° here in Lubbock.
Time Change: Don’t forget Daylight Saving Time ends overnight at 2:00 a.m. Remember to set your clocks back one hour as we “fall back.” It’s also a good idea to take a few minutes to test or replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Don’t forget the batteries in your NOAA Weather Radio as well!
Short Term Forecast: We’ve seen clouds most of the day across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. I expect the mostly cloudy conditions to stick around into the evening hours. Forecast models show the clouds sticking around into the overnight hours but gradually breaking up. We should be mostly clear by early Sunday morning. Lows tonight will drop into the middle 50s. Expect plenty of sunshine around on Sunday. Just a few high cirrus clouds will pass over the area. It will be breezy and warm with highs in the middle and upper 80s. The record high in Lubbock for Sunday is 86° from 1924.
Extended Forecast: We’ll start to cool down during the first half of the upcoming week. Highs will fall back into the upper 70s and lower 80s on Monday and into the middle and upper 60s on Tuesday. A strong cold front will arrive late Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning. It will bring overcast condtions and highs only into the 40s and 50s on Wednesday. There is also a slight chance for showers on Wednesday. We’ll clear up and warm up some on Thursday with highs back into the 60s. We’ll climb into the lower 70s on Friday and Saturday.
