Freeze Warning:
Portions of the Permian Basin and Southeast New Mexico are under a Hard Freeze Warning Sunday morning. The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a Hard Freeze Warning from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. CST for Gaines and Dawson County here in Texas and for Lea County in New Mexico.
Short Term Forecast:
After record warmth on Friday, a more seasonable air mass has returned to the South Plains and the Rolling Plains on this Saturday thanks to a cold front earlier today. High temperatures were pretty much set after midnight. Daytime temperatures topped out mostly into the 50s. A few spots in the Rolling Plains did manage to climb slightly above the 60° mark. Expect a widespread freeze across the region tonight as we drop down with lows ranging from the middle 20s to the upper 20s. Portions of the Permian Basin and Southeast New Mexico are under a Hard Freeze Warning Sunday morning. It’ll be sunny and very nice on Sunday with highs ranging from the middle 50s to the lower 60s across the area.
Extended Forecast:
The extended forecast shows we’ll remain in a dry weather pattern across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains over the next seven days. The fall roller coaster of temperatures will continue across the area. Highs in be in the lower 70s on Monday, middle 60s on Tuesday, low 60s on Wednesday, low 70s on Thanksgiving, low to middle 70s on Black Friday and back into the 60s on Saturday. Overnight lows will be into the 30s Monday morning, 40s Tuesday morning, 30s Wednesday and Thursday morning and back into the 40s Friday and Saturday morning.
