Short Term Forecast:
Was it cold enough for you this morning? Lubbock’s official low was 24° at the airport. It was even colder in some locations across the South Plains. Muleshoe dropped to 16° and Levelland to 19° this morning, according to weather data from the West Texas Mesonet. Everyone else started the day in the 20s. We recovered pretty quickly afternoon with highs topping out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. It won’t be as cold tonight with lows ranging from the upper 20s to the middle 30s across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Expect mostly clear conditions overnight. It’ll be sunny and warmer on Monday with highs back into the lower 70s.
Extended Forecast:
Long range forecast models are still not looking promising for any precipitation chances across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. The fall roller coaster of temperatures will continue across the area. Highs in be in the lower 70s on Monday and then fall back into the middle 60s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanksgiving will be nice and warm, with highs in the middle 70s. Event warmer weather is expected on Black Friday with middle and upper 70s. We’ll back into the middle and upper 60s by next weekend. Overnight lows will be rather mild over the extended forecast period, mostly into the 40s.
