Here is your updated forecast from the KLBK First Warning Weather Center as of Thursday afternoon:
Short Term Forecast:
Clearing will continue this afternoon from north to south across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. There may be still some lingering clouds across the far southern counties into early evening. Highs this afternoon will be on the chilly side with only upper 30s and lower 40s. A north-northeasterly breeze will make it feel even cooler. We’ll be mostly clear tonight with lows falling back into the lower and middle 20s. We’ll be mainly sunny and milder on Friday with highs back into the middle 50s.
Extended Forecast:
Warmer weather will return to the South Plains and the Rolling Plains this weekend and into next week as high temperatures warm back into the 60s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s over the weekend, but will warm back into the lower and middle 30s next week. Long range forecast models show another dry spell returning to the South Plains and the Rolling Plains.

What little precipitation we received from this recent activity will not help the growing drought conditions across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Below is the latest update of the U.S. Drought Monitor that was released by the government this morning.
