KLBK Wednesday Afternoon Weather Update (12/27/17)

Here is your updated forecast from the KLBK First Warning Weather Center as of early Wednesday afternoon:

Short Term Forecast:
The majority of the wintry precipitation has ended across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains this afternoon. There may still be some freezing fog and mist into the afternoon hours. Icy spots on some roadways, bridges and overpasses will remain possible this afternoon and this evening. Highs this afternoon will warm into the upper 20s and very low 30s. The clouds will stick around a while longer, but we should begin to slowly decrease the clouds by early evening. t’ll become partly cloudy this evening and tonight with lows in the lower to middle 20s. 

Extended Forecast:
Warmer weather will return to the South Plains and the Rolling Plains on Thursday with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. It’ll be even warmer on Friday with highs in the middle 60s. We’ll turn cooler on Saturday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Even colder air will spill into the South Plains and the Rolling Plains on New Year’s Eve (Sunday) and New Year’s Day (Monday). Highs will be in the 30s on Sunday and the 20s and 30s on Monday. We’ll warm back into the 40s on Tuesday. Overnight lows will stay mostly into the 20s but will fall into the 10s by Sunday and Monday morning. Forecast models continue to hint at the possibility of some light wintry precipitation on Sunday and Monday. We’ll keep an eye on it, but it’s pretty much a wait and see game at this point.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and a warmer. Lows in the lower to middle 20s. Southerly wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s with a southwesterly wind 5 to 10 mph.
