March 25th, 2018 Evening Weather

Happy Sunday everyone! After a warm and windy day, we look ahead to what may be our first severe weather day of the season. The dry line was set up just east of our viewing area this afternoon, but it will shift further west, moving into our region, by tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of Cottle, King, Kent, and Scurry counties under the Slight Risk Category for severe storms and portions of Motley, Cottle, Dickens, King, Garza, Kent, Borden, and Scurry  counties under the Marginal Risk Category. Activity will begin late afternoon/early evening in the eastern South Plains and will continue through the early overnight hours on Tuesday. The biggest threats will be large hail and damaging wind gusts with an isolated tornado threat so make sure to stay weather aware.

Then on Tuesday morning our next cold front will transverse the region, bringing more rain potential but at this time less of a severe weather threat. Temperatures will move from the mid-70’s on Monday afternoon to the mid-60’s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain potential will cease beginning on Thursday and sunshine will return for the remainder of the forecast with a quick warming trend expected.
