Happy Thursday everyone! It has been another sunny, windy, and hot day across the South Plains with highs back in the mid to upper 90’s. With the dry line set up right along the Texas/New Mexico border this afternoon, there is a chance for showers and thunderstorms to pop up. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern portions of the South Plains under the Marginal Risk category for strong to severe storms so make sure to stay weather aware. Then on Friday and Saturday, temperatures will continue to climb into the upper 90’s and the triple digits with abundant sunshine staying in the forecast. That means that it is imperative to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors during peak heating hours. Also, make sure to bring your pets inside during those peak heating hours and keep them hydrated as well. Then beginning on Mother’s Day, the dry line will set up just to our west yet again and a cold front will stall to our north. This will allow for the development of thunderstorms Sunday through Tuesday with a minor cool down of temperatures into the upper 80’s and low 90’s through the second half of next week.
